This guide will show how to Setup Google Workspace Sync for Microsoft Outlook (GWSMO)
Note: Not all features in GWSMO will sync with Google. Please refer to the following Google article to see which features of Google Workspace do not work with Outlook: https://support.google.com/a/users/answer/155553
Step-by-step guide
Step 1: Ensure Outlook application is closed
Step 2: Open GWSMO
- Open the Start menu and navigate to Google Workspace Sync > Set up a Google Workspace Sync user
Step 3: Sign In with your Google Account
- Enter your email address in the Email address field and then click Continue
- Enter login password then select Next
- Select Allow to give GWSMO access to your Google account
Step 4: Finish setting up GWSMO
- Switch back to GWSMO in the Task Bar and click Create profile
- Click Start Microsoft Outlook
- Depending on the size of your mailbox, it can take several hours for your emails to synchronize.
Note: Emails migrated from your old Exchange account will appear in a folder called Migrated Mail![]()
Step 5: Configure your mailbox size limit
- Select the GWSMO icon from the System Tray and then select Set mailbox size limit
- Set the limit to Unlimited
Step 6: Advise customer of What's Not Supported in GWSMO using Microsoft Outlook
- Calendar attachments
- Out of Office status
- Recovering deleted items
